Exercise Right with Invictus Australia this May

Exercise Right Week is an annual awareness campaign held in the last full week of May every year. Since it’s inception in 2014, the campaign has aimed to highlight the benefits of exercise for health and well-being, and to help Australians to understand where to get the “right” advice for their individual needs.

Given Invictus Australia’s mission to strengthen the mental and physical health of all veterans and families through the power of sport, this week is one we embrace fully.

Whether it’s participating, volunteering, coaching, mentoring or spectating, being involved in your local sporting community is good for veterans and their families!

Here’s a selection of sport & activities Invictus Australia’s frontline staff are delivering throughout Australia this May.

Join Team Veteran at your local parkrun – with over 400 parkruns around Aus, there’s one near you!

We love our partnership with parkrun, particularly because we have co-created parkrun Team Veteran – a national walking and running group for the veteran community, families, friends and supporters. parkrun takes place at over 400 locations around Australia, every Saturday morning so there’s bound to be one close by.

Hundreds of veterans and their families already participate in parkruns across Australia every weekend – either running, walking, volunteering, rolling, pram pushing, spectating or simply enjoying the atmosphere. This has led to the creation of the Team Veteran parkrun Group, which any veteran or family member can choose to join once they have registered with parkrun using this link.

Check out some of the stories from Veterans around Australia, who are passionate parkrunners & Team Veteran members.
