Adaptive Sport program

The ASP aims to enhance the quality of life of our serving and former serving personnel through the power of adaptive sports.

We work with the Australian Defence Force to deliver the national ADF Adaptive Sport Program for veterans who are wounded, injured or ill – including supporting the Australian Invictus Games and Warrior Games teams. Invictus Australia is responsible for the former serving contingent.

We also provide local sporting & recreational opportunities for veterans and their families in communities all around Australia.

The Adpative Sports Program connects current and former serving military personnel with local adaptive sport communities and organisations around Australia.

At Invictus Australia, we know the healing power of sport for veterans and their families through events such as the Invictus Games can be transformative, but we also know that community sport is equally as important to regularly engage with which is why we work with our veterans throughout their sporting journey, from their hometown to the bright lights of the Games, and back again.

Getting involved in your local community is what matters most

“Events like Warrior Games are an incredible experience, but it’s how you apply what you learnt back in your local communities that matters most to me. Seeing veterans go home and actually start to get out of the house again, maybe take up a sport, maybe get themselves back into work, this is what matters most to me and Veteran Sport Australia is doing an incredible job at providing pathways for veterans to do this – – to get involved in sport again in the local community”
